Louisiana State University freshman basketball standout Flau’jae Johnson took some heat on Tuesday after she released a rap video featuring a line that appeared to mock the 9/11 terror attack on the World Trade Center.
OutKick’s David Hookstead shared a clip of the since-deleted video, along with the following caption: “LSU basketball player Flau’jae Johnson mocks 9/11 victims in new rap song. I wonder how the families of those who died on 9/11 and the heroes who died in the wars that followed feel about this trash. My friends killed people for years because of 9/11. They changed forever … ‘In this 911 blowing smoke just like those towers.’ — Flau’jae Johnson. Take a bow, @LSUwbkb. A player on your team mocked those who died on 9/11 by comparing it to a Porsche. Disgusting. I know people who still struggle to sleep at night because of what they did in war after 9/11. She thinks it’s a joke.”

Hookstead shared his own thoughts on the subject in an article, noting that Johnson herself was not born until two years after the devastating attack that took place on September 11, 2001. He also shared a statement from an LSU official addressing the situation.
“We spoke with Flau’jae this evening, and while she never intended to offend or upset anyone with her lyrics, she expressed sincere remorse for any possibility of a misunderstanding and immediately took the video down. We will learn and grow from this experience together,” the statement read.
Johnson, whose team at LSU took home a national championship victory just over a month ago, is a serious rapper on the side and is signed to Roc Nation. She is the daughter of the late rapper Camouflauge, who passed away just before she was born.
She has also appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” nabbing a golden buzzer on the show at just 14 years old. She returned for “AGT All-Stars” earlier this year.
