Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance Wednesday on Capitol Hill, popping up at the meeting where lawmakers were considering a resolution to hold him in contempt of Congress.

Clips to social media showed Biden walking into the same room where members of the House were meeting, surrounded by his lawyers, and sitting down in the audience with his arms crossed.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) confronted Biden, calling him “the epitome of white privilege.” She and others called for him to be arrested.

Biden previously showed up at the U.S. Capitol to deliver a statement to the press last month on the same day that he was supposed to appear for a deposition in compliance with a subpoena as part of the GOP-led House’s corruption focused impeachment inquiry into his father, the president.

The first son’s defiance is what prompted Republican lawmakers, led by Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-OH), to pursue contempt of Congress, while Democrats opposed the move.
