Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) was reportedly caught on camera pulling the fire alarm at the Cannon House Office Building ahead of a motion to adjourn on Saturday as Democrats seek to delay a continuing resolution vote.
POLITICO Congress reporter Olivia Beavers posted on X that “multiple sources” told her about Bowman’s alleged stunt. Capitol Police officers have reportedly been told to locate the Democrat.

The law in Washington, D.C., states, “It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to wilfully or knowingly give a false alarm of fire within the District of Columbia, and any person or persons violating the provisions of this section shall upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and be punished by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.”
The clock is ticking down for lawmakers in the House and the Senate to agree on an appropriations bill before the government shuts down at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. As Republicans in the House attempt to convince nearly two dozen hardliners to rally around Speaker Kevin McCarthy and pass a stopgap bill, the Senate is seeking a bipartisan bill of its own to send to the House.

The Senate will likely vote on a bill Saturday afternoon that would fund the government through November 17 and also allocate more than $6 billion in funding for Ukraine, The Hill reported. If passed, the appropriations bill would go to the House, but McCarthy said he will not bring a measure to the floor that includes funding for Ukraine, according to Fox News.
