Fox News anchor Dana Perino issued a warning to Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA), questioning his recent behavior on social media. “You’re making a fool of yourself. Stop it!” she said.

Perino addressed Newsom’s recent posts on X during a panel discussion on “The Five,” arguing that he was not doing himself any favors with the way he was presenting himself.

“For the last  week, Gavin Newsom — why am I giving him advice?” Perino began. “You have to stop it with the Twitter thing. I don’t know where his wife is. If I were his wife, I would say you are making a fool of yourself, stop it. Do not let your staff tweet, and if you’re doing it yourself, put the phone away and start over.”

Perino went on to mention Newsom’s apparent presidential aspirations, adding, “He’s got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little more serious.”

“Pod Save America” cohost Jon Favreau claimed that Newsom was only doing it to mock President Donald Trump.

“I mean, it’s pretty clearly a parody of Trump’s absolutely insane all caps, often non-sensical posts. Probably why all the people in my life who aren’t political junkies keep reaching out to say they don’t know much about Newsom but think the tweets are hilarious. Humor and mockery can be quite effective!” he claimed.

Perino responded by saying that if Newsom’s play worked and he became the 2028 Democratic nominee, she’d buy Favreau dinner.

Matt Whitlock responded to Favreau — and others who made similar defenses of Newsom — adding, “Love that every Democrats’ response [to] this obvious point is ‘what about Trump’s twitter!’ That’s the point. Dems brand is absolute trash, there’s no leader, and the guy with the best shot is spending ALL his time doing a dime-store impression of the guy they say is Hitler.”

Newsom’s Press Office responded with a post that suggested his team had learned nothing from the exchange.
