The Daily Wire will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Matt Walsh’s groundbreaking documentary “What is a Woman?” Thursday night by streaming the film for free on Twitter.
The stream will begin on The Daily Wire’s Twitter page at 8:00 p.m. ET, and all Daily Wire hosts will go live on Twitter Spaces at 7:30 p.m. ET. The “What is a Woman?” stream caused controversy between the conservative media company and the social media platform Thursday morning after Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing revealed that Twitter canceled a deal with The Daily Wire to stream the film due to “misgendering.”

“What is a Woman” became the most-watched movie at home shortly after its release on June 1, 2022, as people from all over the world tuned in to see Walsh ask his simple yet monumental question.
In the film, Walsh journeys across America and the world, questioning the logic behind the radical gender ideology movement that has negatively affected women and children. The documentary arguably sparked a movement to protect children from the harmful effects of sex change procedures. Following the film’s release and Walsh’s subsequent rallies and events speaking out about the tragic consequences of so-called “gender-affirming” care, at least a dozen states have banned transgender surgeries on minors.
“I sought out experts in every field in the gender theory world — doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, politicians, activists, and transgender people themselves — and I put the question to them directly,” Walsh said before the documentary’s release. “I found — and you’ll see in the film — their arguments collapsed not with hammer blows or a hard push, but with simple questions, because the core of gender ideology is hollow.”
Elon Musk, who took over Twitter last October, responded to his company’s apparent censorship of the documentary, saying that the decision to cancel the “What is a Woman?” stream was “a mistake made by many people at Twitter” and that “misgendering” is not banned on the platform.

“It is definitely allowed,” he said. “Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws.”
Walsh still questions whether the stream of “What is a Woman?” will face any issues after Twitter censored one of his tweets that featured a video clip from the film. Twitter censored the clip tweeted by Walsh by disabling comments, retweets, and likes because according to the social media platform, the tweet “may violate … rules against Hateful Conduct.”
As of this publication, Walsh’s post was still being limited by the social media platform.
“What Is A Woman streams tonight at 8 ET. Elon says that the decision to label the film hate speech was a ‘mistake by many people at Twitter.’ But currently the clips from the film are still flagged and censored and all trends related to What Is A Woman are still being suppressed,” Walsh said. “We will see what happens tonight.”
