Country star Blake Shelton said he hopes in the new year to stop drinking altogether or at least cut back as he explained it’s been a goal for a while now, but he’s struggled to attain it.
During the 47-year-old country singer’s appearance on Entertainment Tonight, Shelton was asked how he liked to spend a New Year’s Eve with his wife singer Gwen Stefani and her three children from a previous marriage.
“If we’re at home during New Year’s Eve, we’re probably going to bed before it even happens,” Shelton told the outlet.
However, when asked about a New Year’s resolution he’s had over and over again, the “God’s Country” hitmaker opened up about his goal for sobriety.

“I haven’t managed to stop drinking yet,” Shelton told ET. “Even cutting back has been hard. I mean, it’s a resolution though.”
“And I’ll say it again right now – that’s my New Year’s resolution,” he added. “To either cut back or stop drinking altogether. Let’s just say I said it.”

The “God Gave Me You” hitmaker and Stefani will not get to ring in the new year together this year after the “Sweet Escape” singer recently shared that she has a gig that night in Las Vegas, Access Hollywood noted.
“Well, it’s funny because I was going to be at his show [Nashville’s Big Bash], and then Vegas called and wanted me to be in Vegas,” Stefani said.
“Last year I did Vegas and I was like, ‘Remind me to never do Vegas again,'” she added. “[But] you sometimes want to… not be the host. So I was like, ‘Eh, I’m gonna do it.’ If you’re gonna be working then I’m gonna be working — so I’m just gonna fly in and out it’s gonna be awesome. I’m really looking forward to it.”
The superstar couple finally made their relationship official when they tied the knot at an intimate ceremony at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma on July 3, 2021, after first meeting on the reality competition “The Voice” in 2014.
