President Joe Biden posed for a St. Patrick’s Day photo with a number of members of the Kennedy family — with independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. notably absent from the gathering.

During a recent interview with NewsNation host and former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, Kennedy addressed the fact that he had not been invited to participate, saying that it was indicative only of the fact that even family members occasionally disagree.

“Here is a lot of your family, okay, gathered around Joe Biden. They all put out messages that are all about the same thing, which is, ‘Go, Joe! We support you,'” Cuomo said of the photo — which even included the presidential candidate’s sister Kerry Kennedy. “What does it mean when the people who know you best say Joe Biden is better than their own brother, uncle, cousin?”

Kennedy did not seem concerned by the question, saying, “Although that looks like a big crowd of people, it is a very small percentage of my family. As you know from your family, we don’t always agree on things.”

Kennedy went on to say that there were even members of his family who were working for President Biden’s administration — and that he was fine with that.

“President Biden is an old friend of my family. I understand that many of them disagree with me on the war in Ukraine, they disagree with me on COVID, on some of the public health issues, they disagree with me on the free speech issue, so you know, we can disagree with each other in a friendly way and still love each other,” Kennedy continued.

Kennedy concluded by saying that he was glad his family members had gotten the opportunity to visit the White House and spend some time with Biden — with one caveat.

“I do hope that at least a couple of them took the time to talk to President Biden and ask him to provide me Secret Service protection,” Kennedy said.

The Biden administration has repeatedly denied requests from Kennedy for secret service protection on the campaign trail — despite the fact that his own father’s assassination while on the campaign trail was the reason such protections became standard for major candidates in the first place.
