Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro is a bestselling author yet again with his latest book, “Lions & Scavengers: The True Story of America (And Her Critics).” 

Shapiro reached the coveted New York Times bestsellers list shortly after the release of “Lions & Scavengers,” cementing his place as one of the conservative movement’s top writers. This comes after Shapiro moved up the Amazon bestseller list at launch. “Lions & Scavengers” marks Shapiro’s third-straight book to hit the Times bestsellers list after the “Right Side of History” and the “Authoritarian Moment” became bestsellers in 2019 and 2021, respectively. 

The Daily Wire host called “Lions & Scavengers” his “most important book.” The book was written following Hamas’ horrific attacks on innocent Israelis on October 7, 2023. The destructive “scavenger” mindset that Shapiro highlights in the book shows an issue even larger than recent gross antisemitism and attacks against Jews. 

“This is something different. It is a united, coalitional hatred of the West,” he says.

Lions, like America’s founding fathers, strive for the highest good, building systems that promote freedom, prosperity, and equality of opportunity. Meanwhile, Scavengers degrade these ideals, spreading resentment and entitlement that threaten to dismantle the foundations of Western civilization. The attacks on the West call for the lions to rise up and defend the traditions and values that we hold dear, Shapiro argues. Only if the lions triumph can America’s success continue to the next generation. 

“We need to be a civilization of Lions. We need to teach our children to be Lions, and to fight the Scavengers,” Shapiro writes.
