In one of the most madcap political ads in recent memory, Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter is hitting the issue of transgender athletes head-on in his bid to unseat Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff in 2026.

He is “banning people like me from competing in women’s sports!” says a crossdressing male actor in a new Carter for Senate spot.

“Buddy Carter even believes there’s only two genders,” the actor complains as he picks up one of his many sports trophies. “Now Buddy wants to help Trump in the Senate and beat Jon Ossoff. It’s just not fair!”

Carter has represented Georgia’s 1st District, which is in the southeastern corner of the state, since 2015.

Now, the Georgia representative is targeting Ossoff’s seat. Although he is likely to face a heavily contested Republican primary, he will not be competing against Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, who ruled out running for Senate this month.

Shortly after announcing his run in May, Carter said on X, “Georgians will have a very simple choice in 2026: do you want a MAGA warrior for you or do you want a trans warrior for they/them?”

Carter’s language on transgender issues is reminiscent of President Donald Trump’s iconic 2024 presidential campaign ad, in which a narrator says, “Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you.”
