NextImg:Crockett: Democrat Donors Want 'Safest White Boy' as 2028 Nominee

Democrat donors want the “safest white boy” as their presidential nominee in 2028, Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett said on a radio show Thursday.

“It is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system will have about voting for a woman, because every time we voted for a woman we’ve lost so far. And I think that that’s a natural fear, because we just want to win,” said Crockett on SiriusXM’s “Urban View.”

“So there’s a lot of people who are like, ‘You know what? Like, let’s go find the safest white boy we can find.’”

Crockett, a rising star within the party, has presented herself as of late as a Democrat firebrand, criticizing congressional leadership for not doing enough to blunt the Trump administration. Representing a strident, progressive faction of the Democratic Party, the Texas representative recently came under fire for remarks interpreted as mocking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s disability.

Crockett suggested that she had first-hand knowledge of which candidate donors were lining up behind.

“When we talk about ‘them,’ I can tell you that there’s one specific candidate. I had a donor on the phones with me telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate,” she said.

“I can tell you it’s not a black person, nor a woman.”

It is unclear whom Crockett is referencing, but white male Democrats fitting her description, such as Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, have recently been elevating their national profile with fundraising events—a possible sign of presidential ambitions.
