I will concede that politicians are not a trustworthy breed. They lie about their past to enhance their present. Ask Senator Dick Bluementhal (D-CT) about his tour in Vietnam. They distort their party affiliation to make themselves attractive to more people. Ask Zohran Mamdani, the Democrat candidate for mayor of New York City, who says he is a Democrat Socialist, when he is actually a communist. They promise to be a one-term bridge President who will usher in a new generation of leaders. Ask Joe “Autopen” Biden, who made such a promise in 2020, only to have his hat thrown in the ring for 2024. He would have thrown it himself if he were capable of identifying the ring. We know they lie, heck, we even expect them to lie. Catching them is the political game.
What I cannot tolerate is politicians or a Party that fills the air with lies about an event, like diminishing the bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, or the potential outcome of a piece of legislation, like trying to scare every breathing American that cutting Medicaid would likely kill most of them. Distorting legislation, or, more accurately, lying, is a lazy act for a politician. Instead of being truthful about the impact of a bill or proposing a viable alternative, make up a lie that will instill fear in your constituent base and hope they are, in fact, dumb enough to buy your lies. When you have the media and your Party’s PACS echoing your lies, it makes the task easier and more effective.
Today, I want to focus on the Medicaid confusion associated with the Big Beautiful Bill, and the junior senator from New Hampshire, Maggie Hassan (D-NH). Since Maggie was the governor of the Granite State, she has always had an issue with facts and truth, and it is painfully apparent that her faults followed her to the Senate in D.C. Every day that the BBB was being debated in the House and then the Senate, Maggie took to the streets of New Hampshire and Social Media to spread her version of the facts. Unfortunately, facts do not have versions, so to be factual, she was spreading lies about the keystone piece of legislation that will define the Trump Presidency.
Here are some of the people she met with and the lies about how the Medicaid portion of the bill would impact them. You must keep in mind that the only cuts in Medicaid funding were for the 40 million illegals and Americans who are collecting from Medicaid yet do not qualify for benefits. Nobody who is rightfully on the program will have their benefits cut, in fact, there may be increases to their benefits. Back to Maggie’s list:
June27: Under the Republican budget bill, more than 43,000 Granite Staters would lose their health coverage. This bill is unacceptable and I will keep working to stop it.
June26: People are struggling to make ends meet. The Republican budget bill raises the cost of health care for everybody. Congressional Republicans have a plan to kick millions of Americans off of their health insurance to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.
June25: Republicans are trying to make health care harder to get and more expensive.
April1: Thank you, Senator Cory Booker for speaking out for the last 21+ hours against the Trump Administration’s attacks on Americans’ health care and Social Security. I was proud to stand with you on the Senate floor today and am proud to be in this fight with you for the communities that we serve.
March31: President Trump is taking $80 million in public health funding away from New Hampshire. On Friday, I heard directly from Family Resource Centers about the devastating impacts this will have on their work to connect people with addiction care, Medicaid, and other critical resources.
As I went through the Senator’s home page and postings, numerous posts no longer exist. Possibly they were taken down after being fact-checked. Why else would they no longer appear?
