On Friday, when an NBC reporter tried to bait President Donald Trump into saying that Elon Musk and Marco Rubio had clashed at a cabinet meeting the day before, Trump called the him out – because the press conference was about the 2026 World Cup.
“No clash. I was there. You’re just a troublemaker,” Trump responded to the reporter:
“And, you’re not supposed to be asking that question, because we’re talking about the World Cup.
“Elon gets along great with Marco and they’re both going a fantastic job. There is no clash.”
When the reporter continued to press him about Musk and Rubio, Pres. Trump asked “Who are you with?”
The answer: “NBC.”
“No wonder,” Trump replied.
The topic of the White House press event was the U.S. being a host nation for the 2026 World Cup soccer competition and how the president has created a task force to help prepare for the event.
Marco Rubio is the U.S. Secretary of State. Elon Musk is the head of the Trump Administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
