On Thursday, Former President Donald Trump took credit for coining the phrase “fake news,” but said that term’s not strong enough, anymore.

In an interview on the PDB Podcast, Host Patrick Bet-David showed Trump a clip of CNN’s Jim Acosta shouting and badgering President-Elect Donald Trump in his first press conference since being elected in 2020.

“You are fake news,” Trump told Acosta, refusing to take the reporter’s question.

“This is the first time ever the phrase ‘fake news’ was ever used. And, from this moment on, is when the [media’s] decline started,” Bet-David said, telling Trump “You kinda did kill mainstream media, if you think of it.”

“I did,” Trump said. “I’m very proud of it.” Trump went on to take credit for the media’s plummeting poll numbers.

“I’m also responsible for the term ‘fake news.’ And, that’s a great term, but it’s not strong enough,” Trump added, suggesting a more appropriate description of today’s media:

“I think ‘corrupt news’ is a better term, but it doesn’t play as well. But, they’re corrupt people and disgusting people.”
