NextImg:Rep. Massie Says ‘I Don’t Think the Country Is Fixable,’ Then Grills Garland

“I don’t think the country is fixable, but I’m here just in case,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) pinned to the top of his X.com social media page Tuesday morning, before taking on Pres. Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the Justice Department’s political persecution of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Rep. Massie posted his comment moments before participating in a Judiciary Committee hearing regarding Garland’s appointment of Jack Smith as special counsel to conduct the partisan prosecution of Trump regarding his handling of classified documents and the January 6, 2001 Capitol riot.

On May 21, 2002, Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home was raided by armed FBI agents who were authorized to use deadly force, presumably to recover classified documents in the former president’s home.

During Tuesday’s questioning of Garland, Massie exposed the fraudulent nature of Garland’s appointment of a special counsel and unauthorized creation of a sham government entity to go after Trump:

Rep. Massie: “Was Jack Smith nominated by President Biden?”

AG Garland: “No, he was not.”

Rep. Massie: “Was he confirmed by the Senate?”

AG Garland: “No, he was not.”

Rep. Massie: “When was the special counsel statute passed?”

AG Garland: “There is no special counsel statute. There was an independent counsel statute that was expired.”

Rep. Massie: “So, it expired. So, what gives you the authority to appoint a special counsel?”

"You've created an office in the U.S. government that doesn't exist and without authorization from Congress,” Rep. Massie told Garland.
