The Biden administration is trying to force everyone into an electric vehicle (EV) and, at the same time, drive coal plants out of business – but, it can’t do both, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) explained Wednesday.

You can’t push everyone in the public and private sector into electric vehicles, if you don’t have enough energy for them, and you won’t have enough if coal plants keeping shutting down, Comer said in an interview with Fox Business.

Without coal, the U.S. doesn’t even have the energy capacity to supply all the EVS – much less all the air conditioners and heaters in American households, the congressman said:

“We don’t have the infrastructure, we don’t have the capacity to supply, just the EVs alone, much less every air conditioner and heater in every American household without coal being a major part of the equation.”

What’s more, the administration doesn’t have any plan to replace the energy currently supplied by coal, Comer said:

“And there’s really no Plan B to be able to supply the increased demand for electricity that, not only our growing economy’s going to require, but also these electric vehicles.”

Meanwhile, future demand for electric vehicles will be hampered by the disenchantment of those who currently own them, a new study shows.

Nearly half of electric vehicle owners reported buyer’s remorse due to inadequate public charging infrastructure, high ownership costs, and limitations on how far they can drive. Fully 46% said they want to switch back to an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, according to newly-released results of a McKinsey & Co. poll.
