Pres. Donald Trump appears to be shrugging off the legacy media’s fearmongering regarding his plan to impose reciprocal trade tariffs on countries that have been imposing onerous tariffs on U.S.-made products, current polling trends show.

According to RealClearPolitics’ (RCP) poll average of 15 presidential approval polls, Trump’s approval index has improved steadily in recent weeks.

On April 29, Trump’s RCP average rating sank to a second-term low of -7.2. As of Monday’s RCP report, Trump’s average poll approval index had improved to -3.2. Over that time, the percent reporting approval of Trump’s job performance rose from 45.1% to 46.5%, while the percent voicing disapproval declined from 52.3% to 49.7%.

Among the 15 polls, all four polls with the worst approval ratings are sponsored/conducted by media organizations:

  1. NewsNation: -12
  2. CBS News: -10
  3. Yahoo News: -8
  4. The Economist/YouGov: -7
  5. Morning Consult: -6

In contrast, all seven of the polls showing Pres. Trump has a net positive or neutral (net zero) approval rating are exclusively survey organizations:

  1. RMG Research: +4
  2. Rasmussen Reports: +3
  3. Trafalgar/InsiderAdvantage: +2
  4. Big Data Poll: +1
  5. Daily Mail: Net Zero
  6. Quantus Insights: Net Zero
  7. Emerson: Net Zero
