NextImg:NYT Unwittingly Gives Musk Evidence of Lawfare Waged Against Him

“Lawfare with diagrams!” Elon Musk declared Monday, posting a New York Times graphic of the myriad of ways the federal government has gone after his companies.

The billionaire made the proclamation on his X.com social media platform, commenting on Engineer and Essayist Stephen Pimentel’s post of a graphic from a Sunday piece in The New York Times intended to smear Musk.

“The lawfare against @elonmusk, as gleefully described by the New York Times,” Pimentel writes, posting the Times graphic.

In an effort to disparage Musk, The Times’ introduction to its “Investigation and Oversight” graphic inadvertently acknowledges that the federal government is escalating its lawfare him:

“Mr. Musk’s companies are increasingly facing regulatory battles and overlapping federal investigations from all corners of the government.”

The article itself notes that Musk’s companies “have been targeted in at least 20 recent investigations or reviews”:

“His entanglements with federal regulators are also numerous and adversarial. His companies have been targeted in at least 20 recent investigations or reviews, including over the safety of his Tesla cars and the environmental damage caused by his rockets.”

The Times goes on to claim it has compiled “a deep web” of Musk’s suspicious relationships and “violations, fines, consent decrees and other inquiries federal agencies have ordered against his companies.”
