America’s wealthiest voters and Democrat voters believe President Joe Biden is succeeding in uniting the country, but majorities of other demographic groups don’t, results of a new Rasmussen Reports survey reveal.
In a national survey of 1,000 U.S. likely voters, conducted February 21-23, Rasmussen asked respondents how well the president is fulfilling his campaign promise to bring the country together:
“President Joe Biden campaigned on a promise to unite Americans. How would you rate the job he is doing in terms of uniting the country?”
A third of voters (34%) said Biden is doing either “Excellent” (17%) or “Good” (17%) – but, half (50%) of voters rated Biden “Poor” at unifying America.
While a 55% majority of voters with annual incomes over $200,000 said Biden’s is doing a better than “Fair” job, majorities of all lower income groups disagreed, with at least half (49%) of each rating it “Poor.”
Likewise, while 60% of Democrat and self-described “Liberal” voters said Biden is doing a better than “Fair” job, just 12% of Republicans and 28% of those with other political affiliations agreed.
By race, 36% of Whites, 28% of Blacks and 23% of Non-Black minorities graded Biden as doing a better-than-average job of uniting the country. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Non-Black minorities graded Biden’s unification efforts as poor, compared to 28% of Blacks and 51% of Whites.
