NextImg:Fmr. Navy SEAL: ‘Thank God bin Laden Didn’t Have a Slanted Roof’

“Come on, that’s ridiculous,” decorated former member of Navy SEAL Team Six, which took out 9/11 mastermind Osama bid Laden, responded to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s excuse for not posting security agents on the roof of the building where a sniper shot former President Donald Trump Saturday.

“We wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” Cheatle said Tuesday, defending the decision to leave the roof open for Thomas Crooks to mount and attempt to assassinate Trump during a Pennsylvania campaign rally. Crooks hit Trump’s ear with a rifle shot, missing a fatal head shot by mere inches. Other shots fired by Crooks killed one rally attendee and critically wounded two others.

“Thank God bin Laden didn’t have a slanted roof…,” former Navy SEAL Team Six member Robert O’Neill commented on social media Tuesday, mocking Cheatle’s comment.

“That’s ridiculous…that’s just ridiculous. ‘It’s sloped,’ what are you talking about? Come on, that’s ridiculous,” Cheatle said in an interview on The Alec Lace Show, explaining how the Secret Service agents assigned to protect Trump failed to take even the most basic security measures.

One such measure would have been to stand in the spot where Trump was going to stand and simply “look around for threats,” O’Neill said:

“High ground 140 yards away – that’s a threat.”

O’Neill did praise the agents for jumping on Trump to protect him by acting as human shields once Crooks began firing.

“Everything else, they dropped the ball,” O’Neill said, calling for the firing of those who were in charge of Trump’s security detail:

“The sniper lead should be fired. The director, Cheatle, should have resigned, but should be fired. It’ll never happen, because we know how those government agencies work.

“This is the product of just letting stuff slide and not hiring by merit.”

“There are so many things that have gone wrong. Like, are they that incompetent or was it an inside job?” O’Neill asked, adding “I don’t have the answer yet.”

“And, it’s a shame because there are so many good people in those agencies, in the Secret Service, in the CIA – but, they’re being run by morons,” O’Neill concluded.
