“Divine Providence” has chosen President Donald Trump to lead not only the world, but also the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), prominent religious leaders say in a letter imploring the president to prevent the development of potentially harmful technology.
“As people of faith, we believe you are the world’s leader now by Divine Providence to also guide AI,” says the letter to Trump signed by a dozen Christian leaders, led by Congress of Christian Leaders President Rev. Johnnie Moore and National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference President Rev. Samuel Rodriguez.
“You are the AI President,” the letter says, reiterating that Trump has been hand-picked by God to provide protection from the misuse of AI:
“We believe the Lord has positioned you, Mr. President, for ‘such a time as this.’”
The letter urges Trump to address the concerns of a growing number of religious leaders who fear the unchecked development of AI technology as it continues to become dramatically more powerful.
“AI researchers and industry leaders have signed bold statements warning that this technology could also potentially lead to massive human suffering,” the letter cautions, citing apocalyptic predictions by Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
“Our friend Elon Musk has long warned of such scenarios,” the religious leaders say.
Ironically, Musk is currently promoting Telsa Optimus, an AI-driven “general purpose, bi-pedal, humanoid robot capable of performing tasks that are unsafe, repetitive or boring” – that he promises will be “the biggest product ever.”
The letter provides Trump with four recommendations:
The two lead signatories to the letter, Rev. Dr. Johnnie Moore and Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, have served in White House advisory roles for both Republican and Democrat administrations.
