Everyone should “end up in the same place,” 2020 Democrat vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) declared in a video she posted two days before the election. Conservative pundits like Ben Shapiro quickly responded by noting that her philosophy was the epitome of communism.
“There’s a big difference between ‘equality’ and ‘equity,’” Harris argues in a Twitter video she posted on November 1, 2020. Sen. Harris said that it’s not enough to simply give everyone “the same amount” – equity dictates that everyone should “end up in the same place.”
If everyone only gets the same amount, some people will still be ahead of others – and that’s not equitable, Sen. Harris says in her video:
“So, there’s a big difference between ‘equality’ and ‘equity.’ Equality suggests, ‘Oh, everyone should get the same amount’ The problem with that: not everybody’s starting out from the same place.
“So, if we’re all getting the same amount, but you started out back there and I started out over here, we could get the same amount, but you’re still going to be that far back behind me. It’s about giving people the resources and the support they need, so that everyone can be on equal footing and then compete on equal footing.
“Equitable treatment means we all end up at the same place.”
Harris’ tweet prompted a flood of replies labeling her a communist and explaining that her vision for America is the embodiment of communism.
“So she’s openly making the argument that inequality of outcome is in and of itself inequity. Which is called communism,” Daily Wire Founder Ben Shapiro responded.
“I’ll save you all time, she’s a communist,” Filmmaker Robby Starbuck replied, citing examples of communism’s ominous nature:
“They always make it look and sound pretty, fair, unthreatening and utopian but in reality it’s always ugly, unfair, full of threats and dystopian. Venezuelans & Cubans have seen this movie before and are warning you it doesn’t end well.”
Harris has repeatedly called for equality of outcome since her election, as the following 2022 video montage posted by @EndWokeness demonstrates.
