Americans are clearly on the side of Pres. Donald Trump when it comes to immigration – and that’s why he’s “begging for a fight” with Democrats on the issue, CNN Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten explained Monday.

“No matter what poll you look at it, no matter which way you cut it, the American public is with the Republicans, the American public is with Donald Trump – and to a much greater extent than they were in term number one,” Enten said. “Trump is begging for a fight on this because he knows what he’s doing so far is working with the American electorate.”

“And, it’s not just on the broad issue of immigration, it’s on the specifics as well, in which the American public is with Donald Trump and the Republicans,” Enten said, noting that a majority of Americans now say they support, not just of Trump’s program to deport illegal immigrants, but also of efforts to search their hometowns in order to do so.

Support for Trump even extends to the steps he’s taking to stop the violent, anti-deportation riots taking place in Los Angles, Enten said:

“So, it’s not just on the broad issue of immigration where Trump is doing well, it’s on the specifics. When you dive into the issues, Trump is above fifty percent and his actions are above fifty percent, at least with those most directly connected to what’s going on right now out in Los Angeles.”

“And, that is why Donald Trump is eager to take on this fight and eager for those scenes out of Los Angeles,” CNN’s Chief Data Analyst concluded.
