A Chicago police officer was shot Wednesday afternoon in Gage Park on the Southwest Side.

Few details were available about the shooting, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Spaulding Avenue, according to officials.

The officer was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center. A condition was not immediately available.
