Residents of a Wheaton apartment complex were urged to shelter in their homes Wednesday night as police responded to a person barricaded inside an apartment, officials said.

Wheaton officials issued the shelter-in-place order about 6:30 p.m. when police responded to the TGM Danada Apartments, in the area of Kensington Circle — about 25 miles west of Chicago.

The order remained in place at 10 p.m.

The incident was isolated, and there was no threat to the public, but police continued to ask residents in the area to “stay in their homes to ensure safety” while police remained on scene, officials said.
