The Trump administration is slamming far-left documentarian Michael Moore’s characterization of “Worst First” deportations citing numerous examples, including three with links to Boston.
Moore posted, in part, this week on his Subtack page: “Who’s really being removed by ICE tonight? The child who would’ve discovered the cure for cancer in 2046? The 9th grade nerd who would’ve stopped that asteroid (sic) that’s gonna hit us in 2032? Do we care?”
His essay, titled “Our Muslim Boy Wonder,” also suggests Apple’s Steve Jobs, of Syrian-Muslim heritage, is another example of what deportations could be robbing America of.
The White House press office responded Wednesday stating Moore is missing the point.
“Michael Moore is free to visit the quantum computing and particle physics labs that MS-13, TDA, and the cartels are now going to have to set up back home in El Salvador, Venezuela, and Mexico,” wrote White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai. “The Trump Administration will remain focused on putting our own citizens first by mass deporting illegal migrant rapists, murders, and other criminals out of American communities.”
The press office then listed off the recent arrests by ICE agents across the country, with four linked to the Boston field office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“The only thing more foolish than that statement are the politicians who oppose the deportations,” Desai added. “These are the types of cold-blooded criminals he’s talking about.”
Moore’s post added his retelling of the origin of Steve Jobs will “give pause to any bigot” who condemns illegal immigration. He also alludes to a “young woman in Boston” who had her guitar “smashed” while being “thrown” into a van he says “might’ve gone on to write the sequel to the beautiful and haunting song, “Hallelujah.” Now our souls will never hear it.”
Reports of women arrested by Boston ICE agents this moth include an undisclosed female wanted by authorities in Taiwan on allegations of embezzlement, fraud and drug crimes; and, a Brazilian woman wanted in her native country for bank fraud.
