That pesky wildfire smoke just won’t quit.

The skies over Massachusetts were expected to get somewhat hazy on Wednesday, as wildfire smoke again impacts the region.

Smoke from the raging Canadian wildfires has wreaked havoc across the U.S. several times this summer.

“Will see a bit of haze this afternoon/evening as wildfire smoke spreads in,” the National Weather Service’s Boston office tweeted on Wednesday.

“This is a model depiction of the smoke & should result in a milky/hazy sunset across parts of the region,” NWS Boston added. “The smoke will remain elevated.”

Earlier this summer, the air quality plummeted across the Bay State due to the smoke from the wildfires. No air quality alert was issued for Wednesday.

Canada is in the middle of its worst wildfire season on record, with more than 5,800 fires burning over 59,000 square miles from one end of the country to the other, according the the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.

In Quebec alone, more than 20,000 square miles has burned so far this year — an area 176 times larger than all of last year.

Herald wire services were used in this report.
