A 7News reporter is reminding people to look both ways when crossing the street after he was struck by a car while in a crosswalk, leading to broken bones in his spine.

WHDH Boston reporter Dave Puglisi will be off the air for some time following the crash in Quincy last week.

He was walking home on the evening of March 6, at about 6:47 p.m., when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Dennis Ryan Parkway and Cottage Ave, according to Quincy Police.

“I was in the crosswalk about to reach the other side of the road when next thing I knew I was flying through the air,” Puglisi posted on Monday. “I broke two bones in my spine.

“I’m home now recovering,” the reporter added. “I’m walking around a little bit but the pain is tough. I’m bummed to be put on the bench like this but I hope to be back soon. Until then, stay safe and look both ways when crossing the street.”

The driver was cited for a crosswalk violation, according to police. The driver may have had a medical issue that contributed to the accident, police added.

7News posted on Monday, “Feel better, @DavePuglisiTV! Fingers crossed for a swift recovery!”

This incident in Quincy comes about a week after a pedestrian hit-and-run in the city. Police on Feb. 27 at around 6 p.m. responded to an injured pedestrian in the area of 1020 Southern Artery.

A mid-size dark-colored SUV reportedly struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and the driver fled the scene. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital.

As of Monday, no suspect had been identified for the pedestrian hit-and-run from 13 days ago. Police have been urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to call Quincy PD at 617-479-1212.
