Two Massachusetts high school seniors from Concord-Carlisle were reportedly killed in a car crash in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and two more remain in critical condition.

The four 18-year-old Concord-Carlisle High seniors were traveling westbound on Highway 98 about one mile west of South Watersound Parkway in a SUV around 9 p.m. Monday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

At the same time, a second vehicle hauling a trailer was performing a U-turn in the paved median of the highway, the patrol stated. The teenagers’ vehicle collided with the trailer and flew across the median and both eastbound lanes of the highway.

The car came to a rest at the wood line on the south side of the highway, the report said.

The driver and a female passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, the Highway Patrol said. The Concord-Carlisle Regional School District identified the two students killed as members of the Class of 2025, Hannah Wasserman and Jimmy McIntosh.

Two more female passengers who are Concord-Carlisle High students were reportedly taken to Bay Medical Center in “critical condition.”

The two occupants of the second car, a 19-year-old and a 23-year-old man, were not injured in the accident, according to the Highway Patrol report.

“We offer our deep condolences to both families during this unimaginable time,” Superintendent Laurie Hunter wrote to the school community Tuesday. “Grief counseling will be available (Wednesday) at CCHS from 10 a.m. to noon and again on Monday when students return to school. Please do not hesitate to reach out if your family or child needs assistance.”

Concord-Carlisle students are currently on April break.

The superintendent said the district can “immediately” connect students with schools staff or outside resources through Riverside Trauma Center.
