Former Patriots greats Vince Wilfork and Rodney Harrison must wait another year to be considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Wilfork and Harrison were left off this year’s list of 15 hall of fame modern-era finalists after being on the list of 25 semifinalists last month.
The list does include ex-Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri and running back Fred Taylor. Wide receiver Torry Holt, another finalist, spent a training camp with the Patriots. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne, also a finalist, was with the Patriots in training camp in 2015. Linebacker James Harrison, who was with the Patriots in 2017, was also left off the list.
Harrison is a two-time Super Bowl champion, two-time first-team All-Pro, one-time second-team All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowl selection. He’s one of two players in NFL history with 30 sacks and 30 interceptions.
Wilfork is also a two-time Super Bowl champion. He made five Pro Bowls and was voted a first-team All-Pro once and a second-team All-Pro four times.
Vinatieri is a four-time Super Bowl champ, winning three with the Patriots and one with the Colts. He’s a three-time first-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl selection. He was also part of the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade Team and the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.
Taylor spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the Patriots. He was a one-time Pro Bowl selection and a second-team All-Pro in 2007.
Here’s the full list of finalists: Vinatieri, Taylor, Holt, CB Eric Allen (Eagles, Saints, Raiders), DE Jared Allen (Chiefs, Vikings, Bears, Panthers), OT Willie Anderson (Bengals, Ravens), OG Jahri Evans (Saints, Packers), TE Antonio Gates (Chargers), LB Luke Kuechly (Panthers), QB Eli Manning (Giants), WR Steve Smith Sr. (Panthers, Ravens), EDGE Terrell Suggs (Ravens, Cardinals, Chiefs), WR Reggie Wayne (Colts), S Darren Woodson (Cowboys) and OL Marshal Yanda (Ravens).
