The Mega Millions top prize has grown again to an estimated $640 million after there was no winner of the lottery’s latest giant jackpot, the seventh largest in the game’s history, Mega Millions said in a statement..
The numbers drawn late Friday night were: 10, 24, 48, 51, 66 and gold Mega Ball 15. The estimated jackpot in the next drawing on Tuesday night would only be distributed to a winner who chooses an annuity paid over 29 years.
Nearly all grand prize winners opt to take a cash payout, which for Tuesday’s drawing is an estimated $328 million. Mega Millions says the jackpot is the seventh largest in the game’s history. Despite the long odds of 1 in 302.6 million, players continue to purchase tickets as the size of the grand prize grows.
The last time a Mega Millions player hit the top prize was April 18.
Another winning week for Wall Street drifted to a quiet close following profit reports from several big U.S. companies that topped expectations.
The S&P 500 fell 0.1% Friday, coming off its highest close since April 2022. The Dow rose 113 points, or 0.3%, and the Nasdaq slipped 0.2%. UnitedHealth Group jumped after reporting stronger profit than expected.
JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo also rose in the morning following their profit reports but lost momentum like the rest of the market as the day progressed. The S&P 500 still marked its seventh winning week in the last nine.
