GIRLS HOCKEY

In nonleague play, Caitlin Fortuna scored twice as Hanover (1-0) doubled up Latin Academy 4-2. … Scarlet Lee had 41 saves in her first career shutout, helping Marblehead (1-0) blank Medford 3-0 to give new coach Hadley Woodfin her first win.

Hannah Coleman scored and dished an assist, pairing with two assists from Bella Campbell to lead Masconomet (1-0) over Newburyport, 4-3, in Northeastern Conference action.

BOYS HOCKEY

Harrison Delman’s three points (two assists) and Jack Connolly’s two goals lifted Sandwich (1-0) to an 8-0 nonleague win over Dennis-Yarmouth/CCT/CCA.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lili Shanahan dialed up 21 points to power Cape Cod Academy (1-0) to a 38-18 Cape and Islands League win over Nantucket.

In nonleague action, Emma Johnson’s 14 points fueled Old Rochester (1-0) as part of a 50-47 win over New Bedford.
