


FOOTBALL
Jim Girard stepped down as head coach at Lincoln-Sudbury after five successful seasons in which the Warriors went 39-11, won four league titles and appeared in the Div. 2 Super Bowl in 2019. Prior to Lincoln-Sudbury, Girard was the head coach at Hopkinton from 2010-2018 where he amassed a 64-36 record with five playoff appearances and a league title. He began his head coaching tenure at Dover-Sherborn in 2008 where he went 11-11 in two seasons.
Archbishop Williams named Mark Landolfi as its new head football coach and his brother Chris as the assistant coach/defensive coordinator. Both played their high school football at Archbishop Williams and are in the school’s athletic Hall of Fame.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Marcella Bonfardeci led the way with 18 points as Malden Catholic (3-1) defeated Burlington 50-30 in a nonleague contest. … Mya Hayes Paulette scored 29 points as Durfee (4-0) ended the game on a 23-0 run to defeat Dennis-Yarmouth, 59-43. … Senior Callie Flynn finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks while senior Megan Doyle added 17 points and 14 rebounds as Weymouth (2-2) took down Silver Lake 63-35.
Ruby Thompson nearly had a triple-double with 35 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, while Tiffany Burns added 17 points and 10 assists as Austin Prep defeated Berwick 71-51 in the NEPSAC.
In the Greater Boston League, junior Keisha Perez and senior Linda Jallow each netted nine points as Lynn Classical (3-1) topped Malden 38-34.
Heidi Warren dropped 22 points as Norwell doubled up South Shore League opponent Rockland 58-29.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Makai Curtis scored 17 points as Somerville defeated Medford 62-43 in the Greater Boston League. … Marvin Avery, Jr. had 14 points as Lynn Classical edged Malden 47-46.
In nonleague play, Krem Amparo collected 23 points and 12 rebounds as Latin Academy (3-1) topped Roxbury Prep 61-38. … Logan Perrault scored 13 points as South Shore Tech (1-3) edged Tri-County 45-44. … Ryan Higgins erupted for 29 points and Josiah Adamson added 23, powering Catholic Memorial (3-0) past Wachusett, 80-58.
Al Marzullo’s 16 points and eight rebounds stood out for Plymouth South (3-0), beating Patriot League rival Plymouth North 43-29.
BOYS HOCKEY
Pat Morris facilitated four assists, pairing with Aidan Cashman’s two goals to power Methuen (2-0-1) to a 7-1 rout of MVC/DCL foe Lowell.
In nonleague play, Chase Darcey and Justin Thibert each scored twice as Shawsheen bested Amesbury 7-3. … Mateo Cuccovia scored twice and Nick Petrin scored and dished an assist, helping Pope Francis rally in the third period to a 4-2 win over St. John’s of Shrewsbury. … Jack O’Neil picked up a goal and assist, Michael McGrath set up two scores with assists and Cole Pouliot-Porter had 23 saves to help Xaverian (1-0) beat Duxbury 5-1.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Maddie Vittands and Faith Steiner scored as Austin Prep defeated Berwick 2-0 in NEPSAC action.
SWIMMING
David Huynh won the 200-IM and 500-freestyle, qualifying for sectionals in both events as St. John’s (Shrewsbury) (3-1) defeated Malden Catholic 59-42 in the Catholic Conference.
