THURSDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

BASEBALL

Aiden Cardoza went the distance with 11 strikeouts as Bishop Stang (4-1) doubled up Catholic Central League rival Bishop Feehan 4-2.

In the Mayflower Athletic Conference, Max Morotti  pitched a one-hit shutout as he walked one and struck out eight as Westport (2-2) blanked West Bridgewater 4-0. Offensively, he was 1-for -3 with a RBI and stolen base.

John Sellon improved to 2-0 with eight strikeouts and a shutout as Abington (3-1) won 10-0 over South Shore League opponent Cohasset.. The offense was led by junior Pat Cummings and freshman Ryan Solimini who both had two hits and two RBI. … Will Corbin notched a walkoff single as Norwell edged Middleboro 8-7 in nine innings.

GIRLS LACROSSE

In a Northeastern Conference matchup, Avery Laundry finished with five goals to lead Swampscott (3-0) to a 13-6 win over Marblehead.

In nonleague action, Maddie McDonald and Margot Bonnevie scored four goals a piece as Norwell (4-1) defeated Nantucket, 15-7. … Ryann Cobban tallied seven goals and two assists as Sandwich (5-0) edged Barnstable 16-7. … Elle Murphy (seven goals) and Erin O’Donnell (six goals) led Cardinal Spellman in an 18-5 victory over East Bridgewater. … Val Beigel scored five goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as Foxboro (6-0) defeated Cohasset, 9-8.

SOFTBALL

In the Catholic Central League, Monica Kelly went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and nine RBI for Archbishop Williams in a 23-4 win over St. John’s Prep/Matignon.

VOLLEYBALL

In the Catholic Conference, St. John’s (Shrewsbury) defeated BC High 3-0 in a contest which raised over $3,000 for Brain Cancer Research. Matt Deeley and Francis McGonigle combined for 17 kills for the Pioneers, who improved to 5-1.

Christyan Berger (34 assists), Ruben Rodriguez (19 kills) and Alex Serrano Taborda (16 kills) led the way as Revere took down Greater Lowell 3-1.
