Apparently we couldn’t stand prosperity.

A week after turning in a solid nine-win effort, we fell back to Earth with a thud. By late Friday night, we had already lost more games than we did a week earlier. The hits started in Boston where BC High firmly stamped itself as a Catholic Conference contender with a 17-point win over defending Div. 1 champion Xaverian.

Randolph has something brewing once again. We didn’t buy into the formula and paid the price with our second loss. Hopped on the East Bridgewater bandwagon and paid the price as Sandwich turned in an impressive effort on its way to victory.

We’ve been very good in the ISL, but Saturday wasn’t one of those days. Middlesex continued its torrid start by going on the road and knocking off St. Mark’s, effectively knocking us into the six-win column for the week.

NATICK over Wellesley: Redhawks get the call at home.

NEEDHAM over Weymouth: Rockets prevail in the Bay State Conference Game of the Year.

Central Catholic over ANDOVER: Those early-season killer nonleague games will pay dividends here.

Masconomet over MARBLEHEAD: Masco is one of the feel-good stories on the North Shore this season.

Methuen over TEWKSBURY: Not feeling good going against the Rangers right now.

Walpole over BRAINTREE: Timberwolves are going to be a dangerous out in the Div. 3 state tournament.

North Attleboro over MANSFIELD: Despite the setback two weeks ago, still think the Red Rocketeers are among the elite in the Hockomock League.

St. John’s Prep over CATHOLIC MEMORIAL: For a top-ranked team, the Eagles have soldiered on without a lot of fanfare and they are thriving.

TABOR over Belmont Hill: Seawolves set the stage for next week’s epic showdown with BB&N.

Nashoba Tech over KIPP: Vikings establishing themselves as a legitimate Div. 8 title contender.
