Anyone can bring their mom flowers on Mother’s Day, but former Governor Michael Dukakis took that up a notch. When this May 13, 1989 photo was taken, Dukakis was pruning a rosebush before planting it in the garden at the home of his mother Euterpe in Brookline. The rose planting has been an annual Mother’s Day tradition in the Dukakis family. (AP Photo/Steven Senne)
