The Patriots are signing cornerback Carlton Davis in free agency, a source confirmed.
Davis, 28, was with the Lions last season after spending six years with the Buccaneers. It’s a three-year, $60 million contract.
Davis worked with new Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams with the Lions. He’s a 6-foot-1, 206-pound press cornerback.
The Patriots needed an upgrade at cornerback opposite Christian Gonzalez. Davis registered 56 tackles, two interceptions, 11 pass breakups, one forced fumble and two tackles for loss in 2024 with the Lions.
Davis was part of the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl LV team with Tom Brady.
He joins Gonzalez, Alex Austin, Miles Battle, Isaiah Bolden, Marcellas Dial, D.J. James and Marcus Jones on the Patriots at cornerback. Jonathan Jones will officially hit free agency on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
