The Patriots are signing defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, according to a source.
Chaisson, 25, entered the NFL as a first-round pick out of LSU with the Jaguars in 2020. The one-year deal is worth up to $5 million.
Chaisson is coming off of a career year with the Raiders in 2024, when he registered five sacks, 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and eight QB hits. Chaisson also spent time with the Panthers last offseason.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound edge defender has not lived up to his first-round billing but could still be on the ascent, based on last season.
He joins Harold Landry, Keion White, Anfernee Jennings and Titus Leo as Patriots options at defensive end and outside linebacker.
Patriots offensive line coach Doug Marrone was the Jaguars’ head coach when Chaisson was drafted in the first round.
