NextImg:Ski Wednesday: Cranmore goes big for Women’s Week

March is officially the month for celebrating, supporting and inspiring women skiers and riders. Cranmore Mountain Resort is embracing the moment in a big way with their first-ever Women’s Week March 10-15.

“We have designed the week to celebrate skiing at all levels,” said Kelly Hunt, Cranmore’s director of sales and events. “Whether someone is getting on skis for the first time, interested in hearing about the experiences of a local Olympian or learning how to care for their gear… there is something for everyone.”

The week kicks off on Monday, March 10, with a special Women’s Ski Lessons program which offers a supportive and empowering environment for women to improve their skills.

Cranmore, truly a grand-mountain of ski schools, has been teaching men, women and children for many decades. This program, designed by women who are also experienced instructors, is open to all levels. From first-timers to lifetime skiers looking to tweak things or just ski with a great group of women, there’s a lesson for all. Lessons run from10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for $159 per person. Advanced registration is suggested.

On Wednesday, March 12, the resort will host the “Luncheon with Olympian Leanne Smith,” with each ticket priced at $25. Smith grew up skiing with the Cranmore Race Team before advancing to the MWV Ski Team and ultimately becoming a two-time Olympic skier. Today she is a U16 and U18 assistant coach, dedicating her time to mentoring and sharing her expertise with up-and-coming young skiers.

“We are excited to inspire women through women who have skied at the highest level,” said Hunt.

Cranmore is partnering with Mountain Sports Lab to host a “Wine and Wax Workshop” on Friday, March 14. This interactive session will showcase all the essentials of ski and snowboard waxing, accompanied by small bites and wine tasting. Registration is $25 per person.

On Saturday, March 15, women who have yet to discover skinning uphill and skiing down will have their chance. Cranmore will partner with Inclusive Ski Touring for the Women’s Uphill Ski Bash and host several uphill ski sessions throughout the day.

There will also be  vendor showcases and educational seminars. Participating vendors include Blizzard Tecnica, Fisher, Hyperlite, Jones/Mammut and Trew. The event will conclude with a raffle and Après Ski Party. This event is $40; registration and discount pricing are available.
