NextImg:Six teens arrested at South Bay mall in Dorchester

Police officers arrested six juveniles at the South Bay Plaza in Dorchester on Saturday night following a report more than 100 gathered in the area.

Two 14-year-old males, one 13-year old male, one 13-year-old female, one 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female were charged with delinquent to wit, in addition to various other charges including assault and battery on a police officer, resist arrest and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Officers responded to the report around 5:25 p.m. and instructed the group to disperse; however, the crowd moved to a nearby bus stop instead at 11 Allstate Road, where the officers quickly noticed a fight break out, according to the Boston Police Department press release.

Two juveniles were arrested as a third pushed back and punched an officer in the head, according to the report.

A 13-year-old female shouted at officers as the group dispersed. When guided by officers to leave, she flailed her arms and struck a police officer in the nose, according to police.

Officers also observed a 17-year-old male with a pellet rifle point and pull the trigger, prompting them to quickly disarm the rifle. They then saw 15-year-old female with another pellet rifle also aim and pull the trigger directed toward officers. As they attempted to disarm the female, the male pushed an officer in the chest and the female fled the scene.

The female later arrived at District C-6 where she was arrested.

All suspects are expected to be arraigned at Boston Juvenile Court.

The South Bay mall in Dorchester was previously the site of “dramatic increase” in juvenile crime in 2023.
