NextImg:Savor the season with summer treats & pop-ups

With the end of summer drawing close, it’s time to seize the pleasures of the season while you still can. So if you haven’t yet stuck your toes in the sand at Carson Beach, sipped a martini on the roof atop The Colonnade Hotel (www.colonnadehotel.com), or dug into a carton of fried clams at Kelly’s Roast Beef (https://kellysroastbeef.com), then you’d better get on those season bucket-list items, and pronto.

The good news is there’s still time to hop on the many summer retail, food, and bevvie pop-ups and special delivery services — most of them centered around the Cape and Islands, but some around the city

For starters: The late-night goodies at Loretta’s Last Call at 1 Landsdowne St., courtesy of a summer-long pop-up from Martha-Vineyard-based Back Door Donuts (www.backdoordonuts.com). From 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly, it serves fresh donuts to customers at its temporary summer-only Boston location, with flavors like buttercrunch, chocolate coconut, cinnamon sugar, double chocolate, and maple bacon.

Also in the city: Maine Beer Company (mainebeercompany.com) has taken over Brewer’s Alley at the Boston Harbor Hotel (70 Rowes Wharf) until Aug. 25, and is pouring the philanthropy-minded craft brewery’s star creations — including the beloved “Peeper,” “Lunch,” and “Dinner.”  The seaside beer garden experience takes place daily from 4-5pm, and in the company’s spirit of giving back, they’re donating 10% of all beverage sales to Boston Harbor Now, which goes toward the preservation and enhancement of the Harbor.

And heading south, The Chatham Bars Inn (chathambarsinn.com) is hosting an afternoon of shopping on Aug. 25 from 2 to 6 p.m. Snap up goods from the likes of Betsy Barry Art, Chatham Bars Inn Bike/Activities Shop, Coastal Brahmin, Coral Cabana Chic, De La Mer, Found Collective, J. McLaughlin, Lola Mer, and Whale Tail Weaving. Complimentary valet parking and refreshments.

At nearby Sea State Foods and Cataumet Fish Market in Falmouth (autocamp.com, under “experiences”), raw bar pop-ups take place on select Saturdays from 12:30-6:30pm through September. Founders Jenny and Patrick Ross shuck local, fresh oysters from their family farm, complete with sauce bar, and lobster rolls.

If you’re kicking it on Nantucket, one of the go-to sources for picnicking and boating sammies is Provisions (provisions-nantucket.com) — the Sicilian tuna with dill, capers, lemon, pickles, and arugula is a true game changer, all summer long. The best part? They Waypoint Marine Services delivers right to your boat deck.

And lastly, the lucky ducks hanging out on Chappaquiddick on Martha’s Vineyard have access to the Chappy Kitchen’s 2023 Summer Season (thechappykitchen.com). Order ahead and they’ll whip you up some of the best-loved picnics on the island, including their mustard that’s earned a cult following.
