BASEBALL

Mike Monteforte went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI as Wilmington defeated Matignon 14-4 in the opening round of the Dick Scanlon Memorial Tournament.

Shane Keough hit a three-run home as Marblehead (12-8) defeated Haverhill 6-2 in the consolation game of the Hillie Classic.

John Bessette squeezed home the game-winning run in the seventh as Andover defeated Wakefield 8-7 in the opening round of the Peabody Invitational.

Hank Beaudoin had the game-winning single in the last of the seventh as Natick (15-5) edged Franklin 5-4 in the consolation game of the Pedroli Classic.

Stefan Alexandrov drove in the winning run in the last of the 11th as Cambridge clinched a tournament berth with a 3-2 nonleague win over Brookline.

St. Mary’s of Lynn (13-6) won the Doug Mullins Tournament 4-1 over Lynn Classical as Josh Doney struck out 10 over seven strong innings and Tommy Falasca took home tournament MVP.

SOFTBALL

Haleigh Kelley homered twice and teammates Madelyn Kelley and Fia Brown also homered as Dighton-Rehoboth defeated Greater New Bedford Voke 12-0 in the South Coast Conference. Kylie Hillier allowed just one hit in five innings.

In a nonleague matchup, Noey Giardina smashed a home run while Talia Beer struck out four and drove in a pair of runs to lead Hanover past East Bridgewater, 3-0. … Mylee Ramer fanned seven while Sarah Dupree finished 3-for-4 with a pair of triples to boost Bishop Feehan past Middleboro, 3-2. … Senior Taylor Reid knocked in two runs in the eighth inning as Bridgewater-Raynham walked off against King Philip 6-5.

BOYS TRACK

Amesbury captured the Div. 6 state boys track title with a score of 101, defeating Littleton and Mt. Greylock, who tied for second with 68.5. Michael Sanchez was a star for Amesbury, winning the 400 and taking second in 200. Zach Rome took a second in the 400-hurdles and teammate Jackson Wetherell finished third. Amesbury also won the 4×400 relay, while placing second in the 4×800.

Archbishop Williams’ Amir Chapman (long jump, triple jump) and Uxbridge’s Aidan Ross (mile, two mile) were double winners. Other locals who took first included Monomoy’s Alique Brown (100 meters), Wareham’s Aiden Robert (110 hurdles) and Diego Mello (400 hurdles), while Carver’s Cam Allain won the high jump.

GIRLS TRACK

Whitinsville Christian rolled to the Div. 6 state girls track title with 92. Mount Greylock was second with 58 points, while Ayer Shirley rounded out the top three with 43.

Whitinsville Christian was led by Kira Simoncini, who won the 100 meters and 200 meters and Avery Glidden, who captured the 400 meters as well as the 400 hurdles. Emma Wierenga won the 800 meters for the Crusaders, who also won the 4×800 relay.
