A juvenile has been charged in connection to the double shooting at Revere Beach from Memorial Day Weekend when chaos erupted at the popular local beach.

Police responded to two shootings at Revere Beach on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, and three people were reportedly shot in the incidents as several fights broke out amid an eruption of chaos in the area.

In one of the shootings near a bathhouse on Revere Beach Boulevard, a 51-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to her legs and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was not the intended victim in the shooting, according to police.

Also, a 17-year-old male was grazed by a gunshot in that shooting. He declined to be transported to a hospital.

As part of the investigation into that double shooting, troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County recently obtained an arrest warrant — charging a 17-year-old male with firearm possession offenses, including carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.

“Earlier this afternoon, the suspect surrendered at Boston Municipal Court,” a spokesperson for Mass State Police said in a statement on Tuesday. “He was arraigned and ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for Monday in Chelsea District Court.”

No charges have been filed for the actual shooting. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

Under Massachusetts law, a 17-year-old is considered a juvenile so his name will not be released, unless charged with homicide or indicted as a youthful offender.

The first shooting on that Sunday of the holiday weekend happened about two blocks from the beach. The victim in that shooting was a 17-year-old female, who suffered a gunshot wound to her lower body. Her injury was believed to be non-life-threatening, and she was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Police determined that the shooting occurred during a large fight, and shots were fired into a group of people. It’s possible that the 17-year-old female was not the intended victim.

There’s no evidence that suggests the two shootings were related.

Police have urged anyone with information about either shooting, or who witnessed either shooting, to contact the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County at 617-727-8817.
