The Red Sox and Mets were forced to suspend the remainder of their series opener when torrential rains, thunder, and lightning forcefully pressed pause with one out in the bottom of the fourth.
They’ll resume play on Saturday at 2:10 p.m., with the original 4:10 p.m. game moved to 7:10 p.m. instead.
Just before to the rain delay, the Mets took a 4-3 lead with leadoff doubles and 2-run homers in back-to-back innings.
Kutter Crawford pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs (including two home runs) on four hits and struck out two.
Mets starter Kodai Senga was 3 1/3 innings into his start, and charged with three earned runs on three hits, a walk, and three strikeouts.
Tickets to Friday night’s game will be honored for the 2:10 p.m. resumption on Saturday.
