FORT MYERS, Fla. — After being scratched late on Tuesday with mild upper back tightness, Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story is set to sit again on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins.
Story told reporters in the clubhouse that he’s feeling better, but he’s also listed as a non-participant in all of the day’s activities on the club’s schedule. Manager Alex Cora had previously expressed optimism that Story could play on Wednesday, but with the Red Sox set to embark on a two-game swing over on Florida’s east coast, Saturday’s game at JetBlue Park would be the more likely date for a return.
David Hamilton will start at shortstop in Story’s place. Roman Anthony will also return to the lineup in left field after missing most of the last week with an illness, and Kristian Campbell will start his second straight home game at second base.
Tanner Houck will return to the mound for the Red Sox, with Aroldis Chapman, Garrett Whitlock and Cooper Criswell all scheduled to come out of the bullpen.
