Thus far, Tanner Houck’s 2025 campaign is looking vastly different from his previous season, a career year in which he earned his first trip to the All-Star Game.
The Red Sox right-hander owns a 9.16 ERA through four starts, with 19 earned runs allowed on 27 hits. He’s coming off a career-worst 12 runs (11 earned) allowed in Tampa. He lasted only 2.2 innings, his shortest start since May 2022, when none other than the White Sox knocked him out after the same length.
After only allowing 11 home runs last season, Houck has struggled to keep the ball in the yard this year. He’s already given up five round-trippers.
Sunday’s conditions won’t help in that regard. Strong winds are blowing in from left-field, to right-center.
