NextImg:Red Sox lineup: Pablo Reyes to start at 1B in spring finale against Rangers

The Red Sox will trot out most of their projected Opening Day lineup in Tuesday’s spring finale, with one notable exception.

Pablo Reyes, who is expected to earn a spot on Boston’s Opening Day roster as a utility man, will start at first base in place of Triston Casas for the club’s final exhibition against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday afternoon. Reyes has played 31 innings at first base throughout camp, more than at any other position, and Tuesday appears to be one more opportunity for him to prove himself as a viable backup at that spot.

Tyler O’Neill, who recently returned to the lineup after battling a nagging calf injury throughout March, is also back playing right field for the second straight game. Jarren Duran will once again start in left and Ceddanne Rafaela in center, suggesting that the Duran-Rafaela-O’Neill combination could be the club’s primary outfield alignment once the season begins.

Richard Fitts, a pitching prospect acquired earlier this winter in the Alex Verdugo trade, is scheduled to start for Boston against Texas’ Jon Gray. Fitts is currently ranked as Boston’s No. 12 prospect by MLB Pipeline and is expected to open the season in the Worcester Red Sox rotation.
