The Patriots agreed to terms on a two-year contract with veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs, per his agent Mike McCartney.
The deal is worth $8 million with $3.8M fully guaranteed, per NFL Media.
Dobbs, 30, joins Drake Maye and Joe Milton on the Patriots’ quarterback depth chart. He’s spent time with the Steelers, Jaguars, Browns, Lions, Titans, Cardinals, Vikings and 49ers. He has history playing under Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel with the Titans and offensive line coach Doug Marrone with the Jaguars.
Dobbs replaces Jacoby Brissett, who served as Maye’s backup in 2024. Dobbs and Milton will likely compete for the backup job this spring and summer in OTAs, minicamp and training camp.
Dobbs has completed 62.7% of his passes for 3,281 yards with 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in his career. He’s also rushed 100 times for 520 yards with eight touchdowns.
The Tennessee product is 3-12 in his career as a starter.
