After hiring a new quarterbacks coach Thursday night, the Patriots added another offensive assistant Friday.
According to ESPN, the Pats are hiring Ohio State assistant Riley Larkin to their newly revamped staff under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Larkin helped coach Ohio State quarterbacks last season during a run to the national championship. Starting quarterback Will Howard later credited Larkin for his development, which led to Howard playing his best games during the College Football Playoff.
Before landing at Ohio State, Larkin was a backup quarterback at John Carroll University, where McDaniels went to school. He entered the coaching profession as a high school assistant in Tennessee in 2018, then moved to Virginia and back to Tennessee in 2020. Two years later, Larkin joined the college ranks as an offensive analyst at Middle Tennessee, his final job before joining the Buckeyes.
In New England, he is expected to work closely with McDaniels and possibly new quarterbacks coach Ashton Grant.
