Thirty minutes after Patriots rookie cornerback Isaiah Bolden suffered an injury that required him to be immobilized and carted off the field Saturday night at Green Bay, the team released an update on his status.

“Patriots cornerback Isaiah Bolden sustained an injury during the fourth quarter of tonight’s game. He had feeling in all his extremities, but has been taken to a local hospital for further tests and observation,” the statement read.

Bolden went down after colliding with teammate Calvin Munson at 10:29 remaining in the Patriots’ suspended preseason game. He lie motionless on the ground for several minutes and was eventually taken away on a stretcher. After consulting with player leadership for their respective teams, Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Packers coach Matt LaFleur agreed to call the game.

The official result was a 21-17 Patriots win.

Bolden, a seventh-round rookie out of Jackson State, has been pushing for a roster spot as an outside cornerback and kick returner this summer. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder played in all four quarters Saturday and recorded three tackles. Patriots captain Matthew Slater had high praise for Bolden post-game, describing him as universally adored by teammates.

“He’s been a joy to be around. He’s a young man with a lot of talent,” Slater said. “(He) always has a smile on his face, is always positive, is always bringing great energy and effort to practice. … All the guys love him. He’s fit into our locker room seamlessly.”
