FOXBORO — Patriots left guard Sidy Sow missed his second practice of the week Thursday with an ankle injury, putting his availability for Sunday’s season opener at Cincinnati in serious doubt.
Sow hasn’t taken the field since the Pats’ preseason finale at Washington on Aug. 25, when he originally hurt the ankle. The Patriots have since replaced him in practice with two backups: Michael Jordan and Nick Leverett. Sow and rookie practice-squad linebacker Jotham Russell were the only players absent Thursday.
Elsewhere at practice, starting left tackle Vederian Lowe increased his participation in opening drills. Lowe was limited Wednesday with a lingering abdomen injury.
The Patriots will hold one final practice Friday, typically a non-padded session, before flying to play the Bengals. They will release their next practice report Thursday evening.
